Julia Kelly Named Governor's Scholar

Julia Kelly, a senior at Mercy High School, has received the prestigious honor of being named a Governor's Scholar. Julia is one of only thirty students in the state of Connecticut to receive this award. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kelly of South Glastonbury.

Sponsored by The Connecticut Association of Schools, the purpose of the Governor's Scholars Program is to recognize academically talented high school students in schools throughout the state who are ranked in the top four per cent of their class. An essay on an assigned topic is completed. Members of the Governor's Scholars Committee, professional educators from throughout Connecticut, judge the completed applications.

The award was presented at the Governor's Scholars Luncheon held on May 21st.
