Welcome
Welcome to Mercy High School!
May these pages introduce you to the special spirit that is Mercy!
When the Diocese of Norwich opened Mercy in 1963 and invited the Sisters of Mercy to staff it, it was to provide a sound Catholic education in the Mercy tradition for young women.
We, at Mercy, are called in a special way, to carry on this tradition started over 180 years ago in Dublin, Ireland. When Catherine McAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy, she envisioned as one of her special works, the education of women – women who would competently and compassionately bring the mercy of God to the wounded world. We as an educational institution strive to spread hope, inspire change, and listen to all voices.
Our young Women of Mercy undoubtedly receive an excellent academic foundation which will prepare them well for whatever they choose to do in life. I firmly believe that they also receive much more. They learn to be Women who are reflective, help those in need, and speak up for what is just.
Please visit our school and see the Mercy spirit in action – you are always welcome!
