Betsy Gilmartin Retires as Athletic Director

MIDDLETOWN - Betsy Gilmartin started teaching at Mercy High School in 1983, when athletics was almost an afterthought for girls. Twenty-eight years later, including Gilmartin's last 17 years as Mercy's athletic director, boy, things have changed.

Gilmartin will officially retire as Mercy's athletic director effective July 1, and hand over the athletic program to basketball coach Tim Kohs, currently Xavier High School's assistant athletic director.
