Mercy High School Senior Named National Merit Commended Student
Sr. Mary A. McCarthy, RSM, principal of Mercy High School announced today that senior Julia Kannam has been named a Commended Students in the 2011 national Merit Scholarship Program. Julia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kannam of Durham.
Commended students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. As a result of their outstanding performance in this highly competitive program, these students are considered among the most academically talented students in the country, and are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
Mercy High School previously announced that senior Julia Kelly has been named a Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
