The Mercy/Xavier Cheerleaders recently won several awards during the New England Cheerleaders Association (NECA) competition.  The overall team finished in second place, competing against 23 other teams.  For their efforts, the cheerleaders received a $500 scholarship to an NECA cheer camp.  During the competition, Alexa Marks and Shannon Newell were chosen for the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) All Conference Team.

Each competing squad nominated six members to be judged for the All-American competition.  All of Mercy’s nominees were selected for the All-American team and invited to perform at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii next January.  Congratulations to Mercy/Xavier All-Americans: Maggie Bruno, Audra Harris, Alexa Marks, Melissa Marks, Shannon Newell and Ashley Parrilla.

After claiming the overall second place trophy, the Senior Stunt Group placed first out of 24 teams in the Top Gun Stunt Group Competition.  Members of the Senior Stunt Group are: Audra Harris, Melissa Marks, Shannon Newell, Ashley Parrilla and Timaya Robinson.  The Junior Stunt Group, comprised of Demi Bennett, Maggie Bruno, Alexa Marks, Gabriella Pace and Alexis Ward, placed fourth in the Top Gun Stunt Competition.
