Ten Mercy Students Named AP Scholars
Ten students at Mercy High School have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement exams. The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams. About 18 percent of the more than 1.8 million students worldwide who took AP exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP exams. At Mercy, Jane McGuinness ’10 and Lyndsey Shuckerow ’10 were named AP Scholars with Distinction by earning an average score of at least 3.5 (on a five point scale) on all AP exams taken.
Beata Fogarasi ’10 and Anne Stupik ’10 received the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken.
Six Mercy students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are: Megan Bogdanski ’10, Kelly Conklin ’10, Victoria Dolan ’10, Julia Kelly ’11, Alyssa Lowell ’10 and Erica Oates ’10.
